Asha was renamed to avoid confusion with the wildling Osha. Both are grimy female warrior characters who appear in Theon's storyline. The showrunners went with Yara for Asha seeing as Osha had already been introduced.
The actress for Talisa was originally announced as Jeyne but the character was very different from the book version so they decided that she was completely distinct (I believe this was Martin's idea). Also, they used Talisa to provide exposition about Volantis, so she needed a Volantene name. I think the Maegyrs are a Volantene noble family mentioned in the books.

Maegyrs are of Targaryen descent. A disinherited/exiled heir, or maybe a bastard line. Not exactly sure.
