Veteran Units

Perhaps having bonuses added to units that have been in a battle that survived? i.e infantry that survived defending a city have addition stats i.e small bonus in def etc dependent on the experience in battle.

I don't mean that its a base amount per battle else ppl could run around with a stack of 100 units, whoring experience from small battles.

Its a good idea but I think they've said impossible b/c the engine doesnt track individual units.
