This could be a terrible idea, but it's worth reading. What if units sent via air transport could not travel additionally if they already exceeded their range? EX: If 4 marines were loaded inside an AT, and the AT went its max range, the marines would be unable to leave it. The AT would still allow them to go farther than their max range, but they wouldn't double or triple their range like they currently do. This could prevent cheesing and stop attacking from ridiculous ranges. This would help balance the game and keep units inside thier desired functions - and make AT used for its original purpose (crossing terrain) instead of range boosters. What are your thoughts?

I don't understand how it would balance the game in any way, but I would like to read a possible explanation to this suggestion. Until that happen, I disagree.

The purpose of the air transports is actually to boost the range, not cross terrain. Transports (sea) are the ones for crossing large amounts of terrain, as they carry many more units at half the cost. Air transports are for fast attacking, which is countered by their ridiculous pricing. They're balanced enough, I see no need for a nerf.

Why wouldn't units be able to move after being transported? I don't see the point here really, unless I'm reading it wrong. Logically, in the case of real battle, units get dropped off by air and begin their formation, defence, moving to destined positions or targeted locations. Normal army platoons don't just simple stay in their helicopters, transports etc. and wait to be bombed or killed. They get off immediately and begin their mission and what not.

Well, say turns were equal to one day. It's logical to assume then that the range a unit is has is equal to the distance it is capable of traveling in one day. How then, is it possible, a plane can travel a plane/day worth of distance, and then a tank leave the plane and travel its own distance/day, in ONE day? Well? All this would really do is prevent cheesing, and slightly hinder the fastest expanding. Meanwhile, the AT would still allow units to exceed their normal range by going as far as the AT can go instead of how far, say militia, can go. For example, this distance system would basically be explained like this Militia + No AT = normal militia range Militia + AT = Militia AND AT range (old system) Militia + AT = Range of AT (new system)
