Enemy player dies but enemy team still gets his SP

Hi I was playing the WW1 War to end all Wars scenario.
My team was marginally losing on sp. The game was set to end on turn 50.
My team and I capped West Germany on Turn 47.
We held the cap for three turns, so turn 48, 49 and 50 and West Germany lost the game.
Yet, the central powers still got the full sp from West Germany and we lost the game even though West Germany lost himself too.
Just seems wrong to me how someone can die and lose but their teams wins thanks to them.
