As you all know, almost 2 months ago Dave added a cool feature, people get free sp just for entering the game! how great, people will get inside once a day, perhaps see some cool map, play it, and community will be stronger, and old players will come back.

All players will now automatically get 300 SP per day, just for being online in atWar. Log in every day and you'll get upto 9300 bonus SP per month!

To get the bonus, all you have to do is come online at any point during the day. You don't have to login/logout... just be online. That's it.

So 50 days has passed, lets check the effect:
First i would like to show the activity from April the 7th to May the 27th, keep in mind that activety dropped also because of quarantine being lifted in most of europe and asia, and the 300 sp bonus was made to save the momentum the virus gave AtWar.
Every blue dot represent a 24-hours avg. Meaning that if a blue dot shows 520, on avg 520 players were online at every point of the day.



Avg is moving between 380 to 220 and is around 300 players, while in the very end it's reaching 280

as you can see the avg is 170-230 players, leaning towards 180-190 at every point of the past 50 days.

I am also adding an image consisting the whole period for better understanding.


Acoording to these offical numbers the bonus didnt achived its goal, what it did achive? ranking up low skilled players (50*300=15k sp, enough for r4, and in a month and a bit, r5, without even playing anything!)
this will lead to a state that beginners lobby is useless becuase people will rank up faster than they would learn how to play well.

I am not asking to remove 15k sp from everyone, nor removing the bonus, i am simply asking to reconsider the need of it and the ups and downs it will bring in the long run.

*I will mention that 50 days are perhaps not enough to judge and with the correct adversiting and changes activity may rise, but this is a sure sigh the leadership of this game need to do more, or perhaps, do less.

Furthermore, I consider that NWE must be destroyed

Just because the bonus was activated, doesn't mean that the playerbase would suddenly stabilize. this literally makes no sense.

besides, atwar doesn't need skilled players. it just needs active players.
also, beginners will learn more playing in the main lobby than the beginner lobby.

The bonus should be adjusted by rank. Perhaps 30*the person's rank. That way, beginners will not rank up too fast, while high ranks will also be able to enjoy the extra SP. High ranks are already skilled, so giving them free SP won't hurt the game.

It's been said before and I'll say it again. Atwar still needs A LOT of work. And when I say that, I mean it. Our staff is 100% volunteer which means their not on all the time and if they are it doesnt mean their working.

If these systems and events dont seem to work, its cause the site still needs work and proper leadership- not saying that leadership is bad now it's just it's all volunteer who have no experience.

As of right now, a lot of staff aren't available- including me. It's like the busiest time of year and a lot of us wont be available for a few months.

Not trying to be mean, but just saying.

well the whole idea was to make the activety rise, which didnt happen
then the whole idea of beginners lobby is useless and should be abolished, but i do think that an active atwar, with 500 beginners make the lobby what it was once again.

second, atwar indeed needs A LOT of work, this is a call to focus on the real problems atwar has, before you go into crazy ideas that probably wont do any good, like this bonus.
if you guys are too busy i know a lot of well known and appreciated players that would like to help with ideas and personal work on community, the problem is that the enterance to the staff is blocked by personal affairs.
and to be quite fair, this is a problem which needs its own thread and this margin is too narrow to contain the discussion regarding the staff problems.

Looking at the graphs, it does not seem to me that the goal has been achieved, I also understand that if those who work there are volunteers and work when they can, the biggest changes need time.

However, I think one of the best ways to relaunch the game is to fix the editor that is currently full of bugs and to make a map without errors is really difficult, just look at the forum.

The editor would in fact give the possibility to create new maps and give more variety to the game making it more interesting for old and new players

D. helpig would be much easier with a back-up from the game, i mean, people would listen to an offical supporter rather than random player, and you guys also have stronger word when it comes for promoting things over or hosting pc/sp drops, and i know it. very well, i was in the team.

E. i made few suggestions over the time, some of which were very detailed inclouding well made (atwar themed) UI and was backed by a very large amout of people, sadly, when there is no pogress on elementary things, such as finishing the editor (it will be finished before silverlight loses support, it will be finish by 1st junary 2016, it will be finish in 6 months, its 99% finished, it will be done by november 2017, we are nailing out the problems from beta, it will be finished real soon! etc, all were lies), then there is no suprise that suggestions dont get implemented.

If I didnt send you the message about adding you, I apologise. I thought it did. As for my activity on AW- I log on to read messages and to see I'd there is any thread worth replying to like this one.

As for the elementary things, it's hard to get things, especially those that need code, implemented. Dave, and or Clovis are the only ones who are able to code up anything- and the dev team isnt adding on anyone else (which Dave nor any other person in leadership will go into detail about). So we cant just throw something up not only because of this but because of the amount of work that goes into this code and fixing it. We always make sure we want it and that its implemented in the best way possible at that time. As for your suggestions I would like to state that the supporters have been working on a (not planned or announced yet) meeting that will go threw all these suggestions (including the ones made in the survey I did a few months back WHICH I'm still working on going threw all of the individual responses and statistics).


As for helping, just ask to be able to host some of those PC or SP drops. I can get you "permission" to do so. All you need to do is log the games and we will give the rewards. I created the Helper team specifically for this kind of stuff. If you want to do any other event and feel as if a supporter would be more of help, just ask. Really. You know I'm more than willing to get you help or to make a few posts/donations. That's what I was put here for .

Dave be like: damn u just cant please everyone .. some people just have to complain .. even when they are getting free SP/protocoins

Also there is a confounding variable that you mentioned but didnt account for in your analysis ... you mentioned yourself that the pandemic factor will cause decline in the graphs ... how about that decline would have been much steeper if it wasnt for implementing the 300 daily SP

this is easy to check, it would be enough to appreciate the graphs before the pandemic without bonus and after the pandemic but with the bonus

Tbh your analysis is irrelevant without older data and an overview of the situation, what we are seeing now is just activity coming back to what it was before the coronavirus + we are in summer and some ppl have life and go on vacation, etc... In fact, the activity is still superior to what it was before the containment.

Although the analysis is not complete because it is done over a limited period, I believe that the way to understand the progress of the connections and how the game is going is correct.

To have a correct statistic and therefore an idea if the choices to increase the players are correct or not, it would be necessary to make a statistic with the same period in the last year, however excluding the period of the pandemic which is particular.

However, I remain of the opinion, as I wrote before, that the best way to increase active players and in particular subscriptions, is to fix the editor, which currently works very badly and to understand it, just read the forum

That is why we need a strong man intolerant to criticism to lead us. Nobody really cares if new things are added to the game, we just put up this facade which says that we are actually deeply concerned with it, possibly in an effort to virtue signal our deep commitments to our tradition & heritage. Hard to say, but the point is that these concerns should be ignored, and a new vision should be laid upon us. I have laid out this vision with the Clash of Clans prototype, and the intro (get the Asian hordes and sign contracts with Japan, but not China), then we're probably on the right track. Maybe make atWar publicly traded company? We should add some shit to it like give it oil refinery or something
