[DONE] New unit/troops icon proposal

Dave told me to post here so here it is: new unit icons i think are needed for years now:



1. Horse/Cavalry icon - all non-modern and half of fantasy maps have cavalry instead tanks, so it would be cool to have that

2. Truck - usually for ground transport, but works for mechanized infantry or towed artillery as well! Theres so many ways to use this

3. Artillery icon - age between horses and tanks used artillery for everything (attack, defence, siege), and there are maps where artillery is used alot (ww1, napoleon war, 30 year war, great northern war), so arty or cannon icon would be nice to have

4. Torpedo Boat maybe? Not really necessary, i've seen those units only in WW2 and WW1, but if it is easy to add, why not i guess.

5. Camel (one hunch i guess), for ancient and west asian maps (transport units, caravans, mounted warriors)

6. Chariot - almost forgot this one, used only in ancient times, but around 30% of maps are ancient related, it would be nice to be able to see the difference fast between units on the battlefield just by looking above them at their icon

7. SPG (self-propelled gun) - artillery on tracks, not really needed, but since unit is different, i guess it should be added (seen only 3 maps this could be used), so do this last if you want, it is not a priority (icon can be howitzer gun, elevated up, on tracks, to distinguish from arty/cannon icon)





We've been waiting for years now, so if it is not hard to implement and will not take your time much, please add this!

Well 3 might not be that much needed since there's the tank icon (also big gun) so maybe something like a light gun?
Also another Naval, no matter what, could be cool!

3 is needed, cannon and artillery was widespread from 1500 to 2000 ad, so either cannon icon or arty, but since it is small, it can be either. Weird to have tank icon and playing 30 years war using cannons

First, don't you dare question into ponies. Second, i understand, but that's real military stuff, and this is game, we need to simplify things, not make them more complicated (new players complain it is hard to learn the game).

I had maps with those signs as a kid, no matter how hard i tried to memorize and learn them, i couldn't. Now imagine playing Atwar and you have 5 minutes per turn to make your moves, talk to allies, check units and learn their military icons.

BIG SUPPORT!!!!

Good news guys. I added some new icons for you!

I added Nos.1-6 that Andartes suggested. I skipped #7 for now. But I also added 2 more ideas of my own. Here they are:

Also you'll find a new sound is available called "Cavalry".

This is great news, Dave is a way better Admin than Amok. This is just clear proof that the suslins were incompetent.

Cammel and torpedo boat might have little use but the others are good and horse and art were deffinetly needed since non modern games relies on them to attack.

It's really cool that the game is still imroving and you dont give up trying to make it better

You could also add partisan/ tribes troop icons.

Been inactive, couldn't see until now, so cool Dave implemented this! I can finally use real artillery and immerse into Napoleon wars, not looking into tank icon anymore thank god

Looks very good, hope this get added.

I forgot; does anti-aircraft unit, nuke unit(afterwind) and missile unit have icons? If not, how would they look if you make them?

Edit: what about sniper unit icon? Small white crosshair maybe

It must be an option to change pictures to army symbols in your user settings.
Agreed now, one year later.
