The U.S. policy in the Middle East

What America has done last week was for the American interest. Iran is not only a threat to Israel but to the entire Western world and especially the Middle East. America has invested 7 trillion dollars or more in the Middle East for decades and that investment will not go down the drain for any country. Antisemites will blame Israel for the US being in the Middle East, but that is obviously not true. To understand why the US is in the Middle East you need to know about the petrodollar. Without the petrodollar, America's economy would never have reached its present strength. And to keep the petrodollar America should ensure that the Saudi regime never collapses, but if it collapses it will probably endanger US economic hegemony.
