2nd and 3rd place in tournaments

So I have been thinking, for the semi finals and finals round there is always a match for who gets first place and for who gets third place. But there has never been a match for who gets second place. If you notice Tumancool lost to Xenosapien in a semifinal match, which put xenosapien in the final match. And dinoscout beat myself(Mecoy) in the semifinal match which also put him in the finals round. So we are then left with a Final match and a Bronze match. Whoever wins the Final match is winner and take first place. But in the Bronze match, whoever wins gets third place. But this does not make sense what so ever. If both myself(Mecoy) and xenosapien lost to dinoscout, wouldnt there need to be a match for who takes second place? Correct me if I am wrong but I feel like this needs some sort of explanation.

The loser in the final match gets second place. What other possibility is there?

What I am saying is that since me and xeno both beat tumancool, but we both lost to dinoscout, there should be a match for second place between the two, which in this case would be xenosapien and myself.

You obviously don't understand. If I were to have played tumancool in the semifinals, then I would have made it to the finals and xenosapien would have been in the bronze match. Do you understand now? There was never a second place match in any tournament.

That may be true, if it did happen, but it didn't. You lost your semifinal match and therefore did not make it into the finals. The people who make it to the finals always get 1st or 2nd. They did not lose any of their matches up to that point. Why should you be given the opportunity to get second place?

Xenopasien though lost from him qt finals bot at semi/finals.They moved further than you so they deserve a better place.

I understand exactly what you're saying and what I am saying is that your logic is flawed. You lost your semifinal round. So did tumancool. This means neither of you can get second place. Why? Because you were unable to not win every match as Xeno and Dino did. Why should Xeno be punished after he got that far? Why should you be able to get second place when you did not have a perfect tourney as Xeno had done up until the finals? Lastly, have you ever seen a round in a tournament to determine second place? The two people who fought their way to the finals deserve to be placed either first or second- that is what they played for. This is what has gone on in all tournaments because it is the fair way to do things. You want to know why it's called the finals? Because it's suppose to be the final match. In your example, it's quite simple. You did not when your semi-finals (ie. almost finals). Instead, someone else beat you and moved to the finals. Considering in this case only two people made it to the finals, then this is their "final" match. The winner becomes first place and the loser (considering this is once more the "final" match) get's second place. Why? Because this person won their semi final match and was able to compete in the finals. They deserve second place because they won all their prior matches up to the finals (ie. FINAL MATCH). So no, I don't see why you feel that because you think you are a better player than the person who came in second that we should now change the rules to accommodate you.

This is a tourney,not a freaking legue,xenosapien won semis and lost finals so he gets 2nd place,end of story

This same thoery could apply to any of the matches before the one you are saying as well, so its really difficult to apply

I'm not really a fan of the single elimination system because it doesn't allow any incredibly come-back like it actually happens in real life spots, for example In Baseball and Basketball. I like Pools because even if you lose to someone, you still have chances of winning the whole tournament. This also makes the tournament to depend less in luck (d'con, tb, rolls, bugs, etc...) and trust, making it more accurate(Again, IMO).

Nobody said 'because it is a knockout tournament' ie you lose you are knocked out. The third place game is just to determine the trophy, technically you are already 'knocked out'

What i am saying saying is there should be a consollation prize for the 4th place because the player has reached the Semifinals. Or we should give away best Promising player of the tournament.
