1v1 Ukraine

I have no idea how to counter Ukraine at all. Does anyone know how? (GERMANY DOES NOT WORK!)

Players using Ukraine will most likely be playing SM. They will be losing money very quickly every turn so all you have to do is protect your capital until week 10ish. If you do this your opponent should quickly go bankrupt.

It depens on the opponent strategy. If Ukraine SM, then Germany or Spain can beat it. If Ukraine GW (witch i use myself sometimes) then it can be best beaten with Turkey. At least, if i am GW Ukraine, i always hope my enemy won't take Turkey.

I was GW Germany and failed at this badly. (Even though had enough money to make all reinforcements, but just lost by bomber wall around cap)

Once you get a few Eastern European countries, just trade occasional blows with them while sneaking up a small army of stealths (And I really mean small)

Once they start to slow in their funds, use the stealths to take out as many of the smaller countries they own as possible. Once you've done this, use your superior funding to hammer their army back into the Ukraine and take out their cap. This is definitely one of those scenarios where you want to beat them down rather than just go for a single crushing blow

If your enemy is sm pick something far from him for ex; western europe like France, Spain or the UK. He'll be too far away to rush you and will have a bad income. If he's gw than Turkey, Germany and France are the best pics to counter it.

IRON FISTING GERMNAY - will work

There are only two viable strats I have seen for Ukraine at them moment which are GW and SM. Really your best counter against both is a Western Europe pick, as a few others have said in this thread. IF Germany will not work unless your opponent is not very good.

(Turkey vs GW Ukraine is not a smart idea either. Trust me, a lot of people have tried it and it never works.) : P

I'm not really good at countering Turkey from Ukraine... it just depends on what you're doing. I think that a country like Germany or Turkey would be good against Ukraine. Germany can get money while simultaneously pushing against Ukraine, and Turkey can rush.

I've beaten SM Ukraine with SM Spain simply by having better income than the Ukraine player.

very wrong, if you get all of russia and scandanvia quickly, you have a comfortable income very quickly

if you play ukrainesm right, you should have all the russian capitals by turn two, and scandanvian capitals by turn two/three, can also get poland or romania first turn, i reccomend poland if your enemy isn't playing germany so you can hit it on turn two

Whilst Scandinavia and Russia are great sources of income... it's really nothing compared to what you'd get in Western Europe. I've got to agree with Acquiesce that the longer a match goes on, the weaker SM Ukraine becomes.

You see what our ancestors though about Ukraine vs Germany? How ironically is that today germany is classified by "competitive players" as "one of the worst picks against ukraine". But at the same time, "Turkey the best pick against ukraine".

I use IMP Germ. Hasn't failed me yet

If you use blitzkrieg Turkey you can take Ukraine down very easy.Just make sure to take Kiev in 5 turn or you will be dead.With Germany blitzkrieg also work take Belarus,etc.PD,IF.

Imp UK or Imp germ is what I use if I want to be narb. I'll just go Turkey for the practical practice
