It is perhaps a pointless conflict (inasmuch as there is unlikely to be a resolution) but I don't think that the conflict is without need.
An emergent phenomena in scientific and philosophical circles is 'New Atheism' - and it contains a belief system as unexaminedly dogmatic and emotionally charged for its proponents, as any religion.

For millennia, people who chose not to believe in God/Gods/The State Religion kept to themselves, or were persecuted. This is injustice.
Likewise, people who hold religious beliefs different or contrary to the State's doctrine were also persecuted. This is *also* injustice. Sometimes the state is atheist, and religious belief is 'counter-revolutionary' - again, this is injustice.

From the beginning of the Age of Reason until almost yesterday (1990s or so), the questions of Science and the questions of Religion were markedly separated by educated people. Theories, hypotheses, observation and evidence are the domain of science. Ultimate Questions and Truths were the domain of metaphysics.
There was almost no overlap of these two domains, for educated people.

Harris, Dawkins, Ali and Dennet (among others) are scientists and scholars who would argue that Ultimate Questions and Religious Claims are as testable as any scientific hypothesis, and should be subjected to the same rigorous method of scientific falsification.

This is not bad 'science' - but it IS poor reasoning. Dawkins and Harris both see the world through the dogma of the scientific method - both have their eyes permanently closed to the *possibility* that their approach to human understanding may be flawed, but both are so sure of their belief system that they would eschew all other domains of human knowledge as subservient to the scientific method.

Clearly this is a dangerous state of affairs. The scientific method is apolitical but addresses only one slim range of the human experience. Scientists on the other hand are just as dogmatic and cliquey as any other human beings.

2. I am a skeptic, particularly a religious skeptic. I wholeheartedly and completely endorse meaningful skepticism. Unleashed is not a skeptic, he is an ignorant hater of religion. Unleashed does not serve skepticism, he serves hate - which makes him no different from the religious fundamentalists he so stridently opposes.
It would be ironic if it weren't so laughably tragic.

Actually, the paragraph that contained the comparisons with unleashed and a dying cat, helped confirm my conclusion more than my early post.

P.D: Stop bombarding endless amount of sub-subjects when the main topic is about unleashed's statement about religion, not about how bad unleashed is at debating.

How do you debate with insanity? You can't possibly do it. You are in the ring, boxing against a statue. You are trying to arm wrestle a man without arms. He will laugh in your face and he will actually invite you to try to win. It's a waste of time. Everytime you try to do it with a religious person no result will be reached. Actually there is a possible result if it's a real life debate: he might kill you cause you insulted his beloved imaginary god. And I think zombie isn't far from this type of lunatic.
