I can agree on the fact that the way some soyllerians act like they own the game or have superior intelligence / opinion is tiring.

Even though I never liked Lao, I did like to play vs him. Mauzer and I concluded before that he is one of the few people who are really skilled at the game (know how to play in any situation), besides very few people like Eagle, clovis, WD, Chess. Opinions of some people matter more, even though they may not be able to express them the best way.

Kaska and Soywind are not really here with us anymore. Neither is Kogi. Nor xBugs. Nor Black Swans. Nor many people from the SP Police, just as the clan isn't. On top of that, Aetius, Pyrrhus, Tik-Tok and many others among the mapmaker elite who has made almost all playable scenarios are gone and not coming back.

Maybe the banned people were insulting. Maybe they were toxic. But a game that has 300 daily players at most (out of which <100 are active almost every day) cannot afford to lose any player. The game is just constantly losing people.

We are not just seeing a slow and cold death not only of the competitive scene (as I foretold here), but of the whole AtWar as we have known it.

I'm pretty sure they were not permanently deleted because you can still see his posts, maybe they're hidden for a while so people will not check laochra's latest posts to lower the level of drama. Or it's just a bug like clovis said.


In short, all of you guys just stop mentioning this, and let it calm down because you are only making things worse.

I haven't been able to reproduce the bug (I thought it had to do with perma-forum-muting, someone). I'll check in the database to see if they're still there. In the worst case, say that they got deleted, we have daily backups of the database and can always recover them back.

EDIT: I was wrong. Seems like Dave hide them.

Ok, got carried away there i admit. Thing is i have become very succesfull at what i do so i really dont have time to lecture you on atwar history and what laochra did for this game. Maybe take our word for it, since all the good old players seem to think so.

Laochra can be a dick and arrogant i dont deny this, but he is a genious and he spent so much energy and time to a game full of ungratefull social outcasts and misfits, thats its a shame. Any company would pay him well. He doesnt deserve this.

I see no where else to post this considering Clovis and Cold Case closed the other threads on the topic, but I will say this: I don't normally get along with Laochra. But he's not a bad guy, and he indeed did keep this game's competitive scene rolling for many years along with Mauzer & co when the Suslins abandoned the game. Does he deserve to be put in his place for his recent behavior towards all players? Sure. But does he deserve to be buried? Of course not; This guy stuck it out like all of us did and has his opinions on how the game should be balanced just like the rest of us. Yes he is aggressive by nature, but I don't think that's a qualifier for killing off his legacy.

I'm sick of being compared to the fucking Gestapo or the Stazi because I have a dot next to my name; I have opinions and stances on every issue just the same as anyone else around here, and these fucking generalizations are goddamn ludicrous. Dave is easily the best thing that's happened to this game in years, but that doesn't mean I think everything he does is perfect. He's helped me out more than any other staff member, and has been extremely gracious and polite with me and my friends thus far; Hell, he helped rebuild my original account after it was nuked years ago. But that doesn't mean I'm going to goosestep behind everything he does, what the mods do, and what the other supporters say and do. I will support things that they do that I agree with, but never will I cross my principles to do so. I have no issues with anyone in this game right now, nor do I plan on it. You all are generally wonderful tolerable people to play with and shoot the shit with, but shit like this Laochra incident is going to tear the oldguard apart.

I will say it again: Me and Lao have had our differences, but he is genuinely a good person with a lot of passion and heart in this game. I respect him for what he's done and the way he's always operated with me. Despite my banter with him, I value him as a person just like everyone else in this game. I think what's happening right now has gone too far. Dave and Laochra should publicly make up with each other or I see the community spiraling out of control in a matter of months or possibly a year.

I've seen this happen before in early 2012 and how badly the community suffered then, let's not repeat it.

Dave's CM was out of line and was not proportional to what Lao has done or said. The last time I saw people got this personal and offensive was when Unleashed was still here. Back then people were on the same page and condemned him. It is true that Dave is the owner but it does not mean that he can insult any one let alone a retired mod at this level.

What upsets me is that people has lost their reasons just because Dave is the admin. It is the double standards that disgusts me. It is ok to let go if it is in RL. But I can't stand when people can't be honest and speak the truth with honour and respect even when it is just an online game. I hope everyone can put aside the bias, read Lao and Dave's CMs again, and conclude whether or not Lao deserves this. You do not have to speak it out. Justice is in your heart.

Pretty much. Did Lao deserve to be taken down a peg? Definitely. Did I think Dave's response was funny? Of course. But the ensuing reaction is not what we need right now and isn't something we should have in the future. I think this issue will work itself out soon enough.

Yes this type of sensationalism happens every few months on atwar. But i disagree about this isnt what we need. Conflict is bound to arrive when you have a population of players deeply entrenched in values that are not conducive to successful gaming model. They will continue to kick and scream the entire way. I just hope daves ready for that. Get with the program folks, or get on with your lives and leave if you dont like it.

Never ever liked Laochra, terrible person who is always on some arrogant claim and very annoying. But punishment seemed rather unreasonable and severe imo. Sad if this causes him to quit after all he has done for community, even if I personally can't stand Lao.
