Opinions on the United Nations?

I despise the organization. They ignore the actual world problems and focus on stupid things. Example:

Right now, Bashar Al Assad is murdering his own citizens. There is a coup in Central African Republic. China is committing a cultural genocide of the Tibetans. North Korea continues to starve their own people. So what was the subject of the recent meeting of the United Nations Assistant Secretary-General for Human Rights? The Washington Redskins. Thousands of people around the world are dying and all they can talk about is the name of a fucking football team.

Does anyone else see the idiocy here?

Stuff like that happens all the time, during WW2 the Indionesians brutaly invaded East Timor. Australia and USA supported the Indonesian genocide with guns and money. Because it was in their best interest to keep Indonesia on their side. And keep in mind Indonesia is a shitty little island who only had strategic value during the war.

Now think of China, it controls 3 of the largest world banks and they are run by the state, they have rapid growth and industry, anything short of them launching ICBMS would go unpunished.

He's fighting a Civil War against Western and NATO backed Jihaddist foreigners hellbent on toppling the efficient and well run state of Syria and place it under the control of their Warlords like they did in Libya against Qaddafi. This would isolate Iran further and leave it more exposed. The Family of AL Assad has greatly benefited Syria under its rule and was the only secular Islamic state in the Middle East. I say was because the insurgent occupied areas are now run by Jihaddists who beat shop owners in the street for continuing to operate their store during prayer.

And? Tibet greatly benefits under the CHinese government compared to their Buddhist monarchy which was terribly run. Tibet also houses many of the important rivers which keep Chinese hydro dams running. So Tibet will never be independent.

No, North Korea continues to try to feed its people. The region has almost no arable farmland. The South has all the farmlands. The South Koran government was almost identical to the North Korean government for many decades until it became prosperous. The North is mountains.

The UN is run by the main players with veto powers. The UN is a system defined by the term ''Might Makes Right.'' How do you expect the Un to operate? It never can. It's a union of all the worlds countries squabbling and there is a deep divide between many of them with opposing interests.

Yes, your inability to look past your own subjective moral bias viewpoint that doesn't accept the reality of human relations. They all have interests and they all fight for their interests. No union of Nations can work the way you suggest. Democracy doesn't work among populations and you think it will work among nations? Dont be so naive. Because he doesn't like being proven wrong and refuses to accept it. His posts are opinionated with no objective thought. For example, his villification of Germany and yet combs over what the Soviet Union did. If he is losing an argument or makes utterly ridiculosu adn easily contradicted claims, he just trolls. His opinion is usually just utter trash.

On the otherhand, he is correct about how the UN runs. It's probably the best system they'll ever get. As corrupted, horrid and utterly ineffective as it is, that's the best you system you will ever get and one day it will fall apart just like the League did. I don't understand what people expect from a Union of Nations that come together and negotiate and argue over issues which the main powers can veto. I'm glad it doesn't have more power which it clearly wants. If it were to have more power, it would be even more corrupted and it would use its powers to further even more itnerests of the dominant powers which are run by multi nationalists.

The whole thing is a mess and always will be a mess.

There were pretty decent arguments that even a person that has little to no political or economical experience, like you, could understand. The main problem is you're following Tik's steps by ignoring arguments and just keep exposing your unbased opinion.

I don't think the UN needs to interfere in the relations of other countries. Remember that all these stabilization efforts are the result of countries pledging support for it. You don't need a worldwide government in order to do this.
